About Origin Craft Leathers

Origin Craft Leathers was born from a simple belief: that the quality of your leather determines the quality of your craft. It began in the 90's, as a leather jewellery making hobby.

We specialise in premium A-grade full grain vegetable tanned cowhide leather. Every hide we buy is hand-selected in person, because we know that the extra effort is absolutely necessary to deliver clean, consistent leather that serious crafters can rely on.

Why Vegetable Tanned?

Veg tan leather is the traditional choice for craftspeople who care about their work. Tanned using plant-based methods passed down through generations, it's firm, responsive, and develops a rich, unique patina over time. No two pieces age the same way — which means every item you make becomes truly one of a kind. Veg tan leather can be shaped when wet, it holds that shape when it dries. It can be carved, embossed, and hot foiled. It can last a lifetime if treated with respect.

Our Promise

We buy every hide ourselves, inspecting for consistency, cleanliness, and quality before it ever reaches you. If it doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't make it into our main inventory.
